For outdoor activities you are spoilt for choice: with majestic Munroes, long-distance walking routes, riverside rambles, skiing/snow-boarding, cycling, nature watching, fishing & golf all on the doorstep

In the winter, we are ideally positioned for accessing the Glenshee Ski Area, just 20 mins away.  If you want to enjoy the snow without skiing or boarding, then we have plenty of adult & child-friendly sledges for guests to borrow!

In the summer you can enjoy the views and walks from the tops by going up in the 3-person Cairnwell Chairlift. You can even take your mountain bike up with you and bike back down!

Some of our favourite places to visit and walk are:

Cateran Trail - with Dalnoid almost at its centre, The Cateran Trail is a 64 mile circular walk taking in the local scenery from Blairgowrie to the Spittal of Glenshee and across to Glenisla.  Split into a number of shorter sections, along with some mini trails, it is very easy to just do some parts of  it

Kirkmichael Paths Network - the nearby village of Kirkmichael has a network of way-marked paths to suit all abilities

Reekie Linn Falls in Glenisla is an impressive waterfall accessed by a short walk through deciduous woodland on the rim of a deep gorge

Den of Alyth is a wooded glen on the outskirts of Alyth - great in the autumn for kicking leaves and playing 'Pooh Sticks' 

Linn of Dee, nr Braemar on the Mar Lodge Estate, offers a variety of high and low level walks through forests or along the river

Glen Doll, Angus - 6 way-marked trails lead directly from the car park

For golf enthusiasts, Glenshee is home to Dalmunzie - a beautiful and well cared for 9 hole golf course - the highest in Perthshire. The course is suitable for good golfers and also for beginners, equipment hire is available.

Nearby Blairgowrie Golf Club have 3 championship courses - Rosemount, Lansdowne and Wee Course.

Braemar Golf Course is the highest 18-hole course in Scotland and welcomes visitors.

There are many rivers and lochs around Dalnoid for salmon & trout fishing.  Details can be provided for guests wishing to obtain permits during their stay...
