Braemar Castle on the way to Balmoral is a
compact tower house run by the local community, who have 12 furnished rooms on show,
reflecting the use of the castle over the centuries.
Scone
Palace, just outside of Perth, was once the crowning place of Scottish Kings
and home to the Earls of Mansfield. As well as housing an outstanding collection of antiques,
paintings and rare artefacts, outside the 100 acres of grounds include a maze and adventure
playground.
Blair Castle, nr Blair Atholl is the ancient seat
of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and was the setting for the TV series Conquer the Castle,
and also featured in Victoria. 30 rooms are on display, each alive with
characters from the past and full of fascinating antiques and art.
Glamis Castle was the childhood home of HM
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. As you enter the Queen Mother Gates, you will see the
Castle's turrets and towers, nestled at the end of the mile-long drive. Once inside,
each room is brought to life by the knowledgeable guides, telling the castle's story and
evolution. Walks around the gardens and grounds take in the mixture of parkland, woodland and
Pinetum.
